Explore our map of Red Sea wrecks
The Red Sea, stretching between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, is renowned for its diverse marine environments and numerous shipwrecks. Key areas where these wrecks are found include the northern region near the Gulf of Suez, particularly around the perilous Sha'ab Abu Nuhas reef. This notorious reef has claimed many vessels, including the Carnatic, Giannis D, and Chrisoula K.
Further south, the area around Ras Mohammed, near the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, is home to the famous SS Thistlegorm wreck. The Straits of Tiran, near Sharm El Sheikh, also house significant wrecks like the Kormoran/Zingara.
Another notable area is the Brothers Islands, where the Aida and Numidia shipwrecks rest. These locations are geologically significant due to their shallow reefs and strong currents, making navigation challenging and contributing to the high number of wrecks. These sites now offer rich dive experiences, blending historical intrigue with vibrant marine ecosystems.
